Well, to start of, we first need to do a few things: clarifications, definitions and of course understand teens nowadays.
So, I will now proceed to make a few clarifications. The first will naturally be blogging. To kick off, what is blogging? And how and when did blogging arise? Blogging, is derived from the root word blogs, whereby you post your diary online and show it to the world. Well, not exactly the world, but all those who have Internet access and chance upon your blog using a blog search. When and how did blogging arise? I will first deal with the 'how'. The blog was a sort of 'evolution' from online diaries that people keep. These online diaries were not open to the world, and those who would like to would have to use HTML, which would be quite difficults taking that people do not have a substantial amount of knowledge about it. So, some genius inmvented blogs, and with it the blog hosting site, blogger dot com (http://www.blogger.com/). Next, the 'when'. It originated around the early 1990s. At that time, most people were not aware that it existed. However, through word-of-mouth recommendations or online chats (e.g. IM chats on MSN), blogs became popular and this is what we see now.
Now, onto my definitions. Blogging, in this case, is a post on a blog, made by a blogger, a snazzy title for the journalists/diarists that was used for convenience and easy recognition sake. And teens, I would place them under the age category of between 13 and 19.
Finally, we need to understand what really goes on in a teenager's mind. as a teenager myself, I may be one of the majority, minority or even the deviants. Regardless, I would (and will) know that teenagers, in their adolesent years, will experience things like BGR, breakups resulting from the former and all the what nots. These teenagers will require an outlet in which they can pour all their emotions, thoughts and daily life into. Parents will definitely nag at them for some things that the teens tell them, and a diary will be too cumbersome for pages may fall out and so on. So, they need a place where people can offer their advice, and have their entries in an organised matter that will never run out. Therefore, the best option will have to be blogs. That is why, as more teenagers grow up and face more challenges in life, we see more of them resorting to blogging as an outlet for all of them to express themselves to their hearts' desire. Also, they can keep a blog for the fun of it, or just to make sure that they are not going to be 'left out' by their friends who all have a blog. In this case, we can also say that this is simply a case of peer pressure.
Moving on to the topic proper. For me, I would say that a blog is good for one gets to post what he or she feels about everyday life or troubles that occur in his life or even requiring what is needed for his project (e.g. a survey). As I own a blog myself, I tend to post what I feel about everyday life or special occasions on my blog whenever it occurs. However, there are two sides to a coin. Whatever has a pro, has a con, a plus point, a minus point. Teens who are not that sensitive, tactful or mature, will tend to easily offend people on their blogs or even post racist remarks unknowingly. This can cause people to 'flame' him. I had experienced it before, and believe me, it was not a good experience. Also, teens tend to reveal essential information about themselves, hence resulting in balckmails and molesters (rapists, flashers, robbers, you name it. all you have to know is that they come with a mindset to hurt you. If you get what I mean. I am not that good with description and spelling) will take advantage of these information to harm you. Indirectly, the blog is the one that 'killed' you.
Finally, to end off, I would like to conclude that blogs may be good, they may also be bad. It entirely depends on what you post up there and how tactful and careful you are with revealing informationn about yourself. With that, I end my real long post.

Woon wei (1G16)

Let me comment on "Why do modern teenagers like to blog?".
Nowadays, in the modern time, computers are so common and it is found almost in every family. People in Singapore are able to afford a computer or laptop easily as they are getting richer and richer each day. But to get rich, parents have to work from day to night, handling their business the whole day and seldom care about the children, the only exception would be the housewives. Therefore, this would result in students who can easily access his or her computer/laptop, to have a "chance" to explore the world of internet (if he/she have internet or wireless connection) and learn things on the internet. The more they explore, the more they "learn", and in this way, matters may come in that teenagers, in fact, have better computer skills than adults, leaving the adult unsure of what his/her child is doing. Even if the parent knows some computer skills, the child is already able to hide things from their parents totally without difficulty as he or she may take up computer lessons in school, such as hwachong institution, where studying infocomm plays an important role in our projects and also involved in exams. Consequently, parents think that their children are doing fine their work and does not really care for the students homework (exceptional for parents who stay at home or monitor the child's homework).
So, let's look at the blogging topic, why is it so common in the modern era? Students who blog are usually the teenagers and blogging is a habit of their life daily. Once I have conducted a blog survey with my friends and the result came out to be that actually more than 75% percent of pupils close to secondary level and secondary level students blog commmonly. It seemed that it is something that one gets hooked like smoking and it becomes an essential part of their life. And also as more and more students blog, those who does not blog gives the others the impression that they are not so cool or modern, in the sense that they are still following the old times. But not only students blog, no doubt that even adults blog too. Adults as old 40+ still create blogs and edit them quite often due to the rise in computer technology and now there are still computer lessons meant for the old people to take on so that they can have a part time job to earn money for themselves. Adults also play games too, which may seem kind of strange and weird to us. Famous games like warcraft and dota are being played all over the world but blogger is one that is not a game but mostly used by people from all over the world. So what is the attraction that draws people to blog? Is it wrong or right to blog? Let me elaborate on it.
Now I shall say the pros on blogging. Firsly if one blogs, her or she is able to express his or her feelings on the blog by taking the website as a diary and types out the happenings and any interesting events that took place that day. It is just a replacement of the written diary, just that it enhances the quality of diary writing. Secondly, teenagers usually post things like their identiy and idols and links to other friends' blogs. However this is not the main part. One commonly adds a tagboard on his or her blog so that one will leave a speech to tell him or her that he/she have been to his blog. But it came out that people start to use the tagboard as a talking board. Everyone who goes to the blog talk about his/her experience that day like a "mini" blog on a tagboard, the most commonly seen would be the cbox. By talking on the tagboard, it lets the blogger feel good about his blog as everyone visits his blog because he thinks it is fun and interesting to look at (the content) and his or her friends like it a lot (admire). Thirdly, teenagers want a blog because they want to modify it for testing purposes and simply add all kinds of unnecessary stuff onto the blog like popups to impress their friends that they can make a blog much cooler than anyone else. Fourthly, many teenagers think that becuse they are able to type out an event daily on their blog, it actually helps them in many ways. A few would be like it would help them with their language, increase in typing speed, help also in infocomm studies, or even help them to "relive" their stress.
After speaking about the pros, let me come to cons. Parents are usually the ones who hate children to blog if they know about computer stuff. By blogging, parents think it is a waste of time and money as blogging does not help much in ones' studies and it takes up quite some electricity if one blogs almost every single day. Parents actually think that blogging disrupts their study and affects their results. Imagine how many watts of electricty are being used too. And by blogging, you may accidentally conceal some of your inner secrets and rumors or gossips may spread throughout your class which may possess a threat to you (if they are used as your weakness). Nextly, it would be about the tagboard. One usually uses his own nickname or name to identify himself, but what if he uses other people's name or nickname? He/she can use the other person's nickname to scold or insult the other person on the tagboard, resulting in bad relationships. Who knows whether the name really represents your friend? It may be any stranger. I had one experience in my friend's blog and I would like to share about it. A boy's name was being used by another person and he scolded bad words and spat vulgartities on the tagboard, insulting the blogger very much. My friend was very upset with that.
In conclusion, I think that parents are usually the ones who opposes to blogging and the teenagers who support blogging. However, in fact, parents now even blog too, an example would be our science teacher. Altough I am not so sure about this, adults do blog nowadays. Is there any wrong to blogging or gamimg? The choice is in your hands. Choose the wrong path and you bear the consequences.

Ok , firstly i have to say that i am a blogger and i started blogging when the PSLE is over My form teacher in primary school encourage us to share our feeling and own experience through blog and all my ex-classmates have their own blog.As all of us know that sign up a blog is totally free and maintain a blog is rather simple than maintain a website . all we have to do is to write something and then press the submit button. It is a good stage to feeling about something or some interesting thing you have encoutered.Beside express your feeling . we also enhance our computer skill as we all know that blogskin is written in HTML form and it is a complicated code that is required to make our blog nicer and better in 1 way or another.let discuss about the cons after talking about the prosA blog is public and everyone can see and read what i have written so that should not be any discrimination or personal attack. i think that the name should not be written in full name.we must responsible for our word chose in our blogs.some of our parent also complaint that we spend too much time write blog and read other people's blog. i think this is not a problem and this can be solved easily without any tools.the first thing is that the day we write blog and read blog do not crash on each other. for example that we can write blog one day and read blog for the next day.in conclusion blogging has more pros than cons and we can keep in touch through blog. it is more easy than using phone and sms which cost much more money.1G02caoyu

Whew. What a tiring week it's gonna be. Good thing I was prepared.

See, on Monday (AND TUESDAY), I was busy with the ProCMC Induction Camp. ProCMC= ProEd Class Management Committee. Yeah, I know, I'm damn boring. But hey, at least I get a free-three course meal. Ok, fine, I'm a glutton. NOT. It was a chance to try out our "how-to-eat-with-proper-etiquette-and-finesse". Look. It was a programme organised by the OS(Organising Secretary), ok? Also, we watched a compulsory movie called Heartbreak Ridge, on order of our Director of Consortium. We were s'posed to watch it for the leadership, teamwork etc. etc. qualities in there, but in the end, we enjoyed it basically because of the expletives in it. Our D/C was aware, and he told us, "Enjoy!". Nice D/C, huh? Cluster f***, f***ing sucker etc. etc. Very educational, really. Then, we had a movie marathon that laster from 0150 hours till 0900 hours. Cool. Too bad I fell asleep during the movies. It was real entertaining, my seniors told me.

Wednesday, today, essentially, is comprised of two things: optional IS remedial and Debate training.

Thurday and Fri...I know whats coming up...too tired to continue...why? I'm not really feeling well today.

Warm regards,
